Rindy leads Quarterflash, which formed a jazz band called Seafood Mama in 1970. The founding members included the original members of the Seattle Jazz Quartet and a number of other local musicians. This trio was founded and still exists today as one of Portland's leading jazz bands, which is strongly represented in Seattle.
The band Jam has been a strong presence on the Portland music scene for decades, going back to the Grateful Dead's first appearance at the Oregon Jazz Festival in 1970. The outdoor music festival remains popular and hosts prominent cultural institutions including Portland State University, the Portland Museum of Art and the University of Portland.

Dr. Song holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Goshen College, Indiana. She grew up in Sandy, Oregon, and graduated from Willamette University in Salem Oregon with a B.A. in Music, where she earned her master's degree in Music Education. Kitagawa hopes to graduate from the university and graduate in environmental chemistry. He is a PhD student in chemistry and biochemistry at Oregon State University and holds a Bachelor's degree in art and music from Goshens College, Indiana. He is in his second year of studying chemistry at Columbia University, New York City.
She also sang the role of Anima in several scenic productions of the opera "Rappresentatione," in which she is portrayed as Heloise. She also sang the first Carmen at Portland Opera, which earned her much acclaim and led to a new cast for her role in the following season. Catherine has been an actress for over 20 years and has appeared and sung in numerous musicals, operas and musical theatre productions in the United States. Ferguson has performed as a soloist in the United States and Europe, as well as at Oregon Opera and Seattle Opera.
Under the direction of Portland, the ensemble has been presenting a highly acclaimed annual concert series in Portland since 2007. In recent years, Portland indie bands that play local venues have toured nationally, winning prizes such as the Oregon Music Awards and the Portland Music Recordings Knitting Festival, and have received national awards for their performances at festivals and concerts. The ensemble has also broadcast nationally syndicated radio programs and appeared in national television and radio programs. Salem and surrounding cities have also played a significant role in the development of Oregon's music industry since the 1990s, but the state also has a unique rural-urban dynamic that has been influenced by Oregon's industrial and industrial history and its proximity to the Pacific Northwest.
