“This school apparently performs well on state testing, but in my experience, academic quality is actually disappointing. The testing that is done is 'adaptive' and children retake the test repeatedly if they get low scores, so it does not really show what they know. My son managed to pass the state tests but in reality understood very little, especially in math, and needed a lot of extra help at home to get through homework. The homework load is excessive in 6th grade and then drops to almost nothing in 7th grade, so it's hard for a parent to see what he is really learning. Although the staff and the principal are very open to communication about my children, curriculum decisions are made at district and state level and parents have little say.”

High academic achievement, young enthusiastic staff, large parental involvement. Although we have seen a reduction in cirriculum provided, they still offer great drama, art, music, and foreign language departments. West Linn is a largely upper middle class with tremendous athletic programs offered outside the school system, including top notch clubs in volleyball, laCross, soccer, baseball, and football.”
